Caller Display/ID

Are you not any call package such as Free Eve/Wkends? Once you opt in to Privacy at home, you just have to make a min of 2 calls which can include those in your inclusive allowance, they don't have to be chargeable.Hope I'm not hijacking the thread - it's a similar query.
I have landline with BT and calls/broadband with talktalk, so I'm paying extra to BT for caller display as I'm not making any chargeable calls. Is there any way of getting cheaper caller display from talktalk without moving the landline to them? I did try to ask, but lost the will to live very quickly as they were so busy doing the hard sell I never actually got an answer to my question.

Hi loofer,
Details of the "Privacy Pack" service can be found on the TalkTalk Website.
If you click the "More Details" option on the tariff you are considering it will direct you to the TT pricing page. Full details of additional services and all costs can be found on this page.
However the Privacy Pack service is free of charge
Regards
Mark

Hi everyone, I hope someone can help me:
I just pay BT for line rental but use Virgin Media package for calls & internet bundle. I don't have caller display and tried to change to get it tonight, as I thought you just had to make 2 chargeable calls a month via BT to get the service for free, as stated on their site:
Important information about free Caller Display:
Customers who do not make enough calls with BT will be charged for BT Caller Display. Customers who are billed every three months must make at least six chargeable or inclusive calls within those three months, otherwise BT reserves the right to charge £8.10 a quarter. Customers who are billed monthly must make at least two chargeable or inclusive calls a month otherwise BT reserves the right to charge £2.70 a month. Free calls (for example to 0800 numbers, calls to the emergency services etc) do not count towards the minimum call commitment.< p>
I was planning to just use BT for the 2 chargeable calls and continue using virgin for the rest, but just before I clicked confirm it said this:
By completing this order you are agreeing to switch your calls back to BT.
I wasn't planning on switching all my calls back to BT - just the mimimum amount needed, so now I'm too scared to click confirm incase it'll transfer all my calls to BT instead of Virgin, and I really don't want the hassle of sorting all that out if that happens.
So can anyone tell me whether there is still a way to just get Caller Display for free using the minimum calls without having to switch all you calls back to BT?
TIA
Be nice - it's free!

How did you intend to use BT for just the minimum amount of calls to get caller display for free ?, if your plan was to dial 1280 infront of those calls, then it may not have worked anyway...VM may not use CPS (carrier pre select) but WCLi, and 1280 wouldnt actually do anything, the calls would be billed by VM and you wouldnt make any calls with BT (so charged for Caller Display)..looks like BT have wised up and if you want caller dispay 'free' they want your call business...only way round it would be to pay line rental to VM after first checking they dont charge more line rental then BT and offer caller display for free and that they offer the choice to pay them instead of BT for LR0 -

Thanks iniltous, yes I was planning to dial 1280 - thanks so much because I thought that would bring any calls to BT. I'm not clued up on this at all
Glad I wasn't able to try this out now!

I realise I have been really slow, more fool me I know, but I have only just found that TalkTalk very quietly introduced their Privacy Pack but quite deliberately did not let existing customers know that they had done this. I like many others have continued to be charged for Caller Display, indeed they have even had the nerve to increase the price, for nearly threeyears at a cost of £85.
How can any of us trust a company that does business in this way, its very short sighted of them as I will be voting with my feet which will cost them much more than they have gained from me by being deceitful.0 -
I commented earlier in this thread, but BT did exactly the same thing (for existing Caller ID users) as TT so don't go from the frying pan into the BT fire. SKY also offer free Called ID.I realise I have been really slow, more fool me I know, but I have only just found that TalkTalk very quietly introduced their Privacy Pack but quite deliberately did not let existing customers know that they had done this.
