That REALLY helped. I like the Natural one and the Bohemian one the best.
I'm going to buy these two any idea where to get it apart from online? Do Superdrugs stock most of these or are the store limited?

When I went to Superdrug they only had a selection of 5 palettes, with 2 being out of stock. Depending on the size of the store they may stock a bigger range. You could always visit your nearest store to play with testers if they're out of stock, then buy them online.

Unfortunately the Bohemian was limited edition from last year, probably not easy to track down now :(

They currently have 9 palettes http://www.sleekmakeup.com/en/categories/eye-shadow-17.aspx
  • Sorry to hijack the thread, please can someone tel me are the Sleek eye shadows a pearl finish or glittery? In my mid forties so glitter is not a good look for my lids but I do like a pearl finish.

    Thanks,
    SM

Slinky - it depends on the palette.

They tend to be either matt or satin.

ETA for the OP - invest in an eyeshadow primer - this is a must for the Rihanna look especially. You could get a multipurpose product like Urban Decay's Primer Potion or Too Faced Shadow Insurance but the alternative is something like a NYX jumbo pencil in purple - just rub a bit on your finger then over your lid - before you put the shadow on. Pressing the shadow on rather than swiping will also help.

    Hello

It might be worth investing in a eye shadow primer. Sometimes I find when you apply a primer the eyeshadow is a lot more bolder on the eyes. I use the Urban Decay one.
  • Re sleek - in the ones I have, in the same palette some are matte, some are pearly, but not really glittery!

I'd hazard a guess at most of the makeup in the pictures being done by Mac (the bright ones at least). Mac started out as a theatre and stage makeup only group and then launched to the high street, they do stay-in-place makeup perfectly and the colours are so densly pigmented you only need a little to get a good deep colour. You can go for a makeover if your near to a branch (though you may well need to book in advance) you do need to pay but get the money off what makeup you buy on the day, its well worth it if your needing new ideas or tips and tricks to wearing makeup.

Don't go buying Mac from ebay though, they are one of the most faked brand out there! The do have a website too though and if your far from them they will send out samples.
  • Another one for the Urban Decay Primer Potion!!I use it under my MAC eyeshadows

I recently bought some eyeshadows online to try out. I knew they were cheap but I have never used shadows and wanted to change my going out look as I always look the same boring black eyeliner.

But the eyeshadows I bought were not good. So light and rubbed off. The colours were good in the palette but putting them on it was very light and unable to build. :( Low pigment?

    Hi,
Try salvage the eyeshadows you have first, to see if they're really c**p. Most mid range eye-shadows have to be enhanced, it doesn't matter if they cost £1 or £6, the effect is usually the same. Things to do:
-Use a primer. It doesn't need to be specifically eye-shadow primer, foundation primer will work similarly well on your eyes.
-See if the shadows apply well with a damp brush
-If the above doesn't work, make them into cream shadows by grinding up and mixing with vaseline, or a body cream. There's plenty of youtube videos on this, for example: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SBMVw9MGg7E&feature=related
As a cream eye shadow, they will have a much more intense colour.
  • another vote here for sleek.. i have urban decay polishes and find sleek aren't that far behind urban decay in their pigmentation.

Just to add, Superdrug online have a 3 for 2 offer on at the moment on cosmetics, and Sleek is included. They have 2 of the eyeshadow palettes. Free delivery as well! I ordered the "storm" palette, people seem to rave about it in reviews.

I also really rate the Make Up Academy eyeshadows, they are very pigmented and soft. Also on 3 for 2 atm, and at only £1 each! Bargain.
