Credit cards at BFPO addresses

My husband is in the Forces and we have been stationed in Germany for the past 4 years. We have found it increasingly impossible to get a credit card because a BFPO address is not a recognised UK address. We are now back in the UK and are still suffering as we have only lived at this address for a matter of weeks. We are keen to get a good deal on a credit card but don't know how with our address problem, do you have any suggestions?
Incidentally, we were also refused a mortgage because we had a BFPO address!

It might be an idea to apply for an credit card, wait for the rejection letter and then appeal, send proof of address accompanied by perhaps proof of earnings. See what they say.0
