Home insurance legal cover

Options
Hi all, I have home buildings insurance which came with free legal cover. Both from the pru. I've had a buildings claim dismissed (before even being able to submit the claim form). I'm contesting the working (or lack of it) around "trace and access". The pru insurance have already said their response is final and they will not look at it any further. They have said I can complain to the FSA - which I will be doing. Quick question. I need legal help with this (to do with the wording) before going to the FSA. I want to use the free legal cover included in the policy (pru legal) to fight the pru insurance. As a legal company, must the pru legal work in my best interests as opposed to siding with their sister company? Thanks, B.

There's usually an exclusion which states that you can't use the cover in a claim against them.

Your complaint needs to go to the FOS, not the FSA.

You shouldn't need legal help with it. Ring the FOS and ask for advice if needed.

I'd be amazed if the legal cover allowed you to use it in these circumstance. There's a clear conflict of interest.

Thanks Geri. I've checked through the policy and there is nothing in it excluding it from claims against other pru companies. B.http://images2.moneysavingexpert.com/images/forum_smilies/action-smiley-033.gif

Cheers. I had meant the FOS but put in the FSA by mistake.
