Watching programmes recorded on a Sky box in another room

Options
We want to watch programmes we've already recorded on our Sky box in another room. The 2 TVs are separated by just a wall in a cottage that we're renovating.

How do we do this? What cables and sockets etc do we need?

Many thanks.

Sky boxes have two rf outlets there is a product that allows you to control the sky box in both rooms http://www.amazon.co.uk/One-All-SKY150-Remote-Link/dp/B000JXKRR4/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1320096525&sr=8-2 this runs using power from the sky box.

Have you looked at audio visual senders? They may do the trick - look in the Argos catalogue.

Edit: The previous poster's suggestion looks better!

Assuming you keep the Sky box where it is, you need to decide

Whether you want to merely watch the programs next door, having pressed play in the Sky room, or whether you want to control the Sky box from the other room.

Whether you want to make a hole in the wall for cables, or if you want some form of wireless link

If connecting by cable through the wall, you also need to decide whether to use SCART, RF or HDMI and this will depend on what's available on both your TV in the remote room, and the Sky box.
  • As suggested earlier, buy a tv-link

I have my sky box under the stairs out of the way, the main tv is 2 mtr away and connected via an hdmi cable.

I also have an amp with a bypass (this makes the magic eye work all over the house- I have an 8 way amp so could have all 8 tv's showing either digital freeview or sky)

You need to run a good quality coax from the RF2 output on the SKY box to the second tv. This way you can change the channels and do all of what you would do with your remote from more than 1 loaction.
    baldly going on...
  • Thanks to one and all!

The new TV for the kitchen (an LG 19LE1300) is due to arrive today. Apparently it's got 1 Scart connection and 2 HDMI connections. There's no mention of an RF connection on the Which? review though, and I'm not sure what that is.

It'll be set up a few inches from our main TV but with a wall in between. This is in a cottage we're renovating so the wall hasn't been plastered yet, meaning that there should be no problem with making good.

We've a choice of 2 CRT sets for the main TV, only 1 of which we'll be keeping. However I don't know what the various connections look like. Can anyone provide a link to pictures please?

    Thanks.

RF is the standard aerial connection - if the TV has freeview built in, it'll have an RF socket. I don't think they've yet stopped putting analogue tuners into TVs.
