TSA Travel Locks.....6 and half a dozen?

Going to America and need to get around 6 of these locks. Is there any difference between the Travel Sentry and the Safe Skies versions I should know about or are they just much and such?
Any good online retailers? Most of the retailers that are listed on the Travel Sentry website don't actually have them to buy online. (Pity really cos I could have got more Boots points, lol).
Is the 4 digit lock just overkill....the 3 digit is ample (is it?) and is there any need for the indicator lock you can buy? My wife wants to know if someone has been rumaging through her things but I don't see any point in paying an extra 2 or 3 quid per lock just to know this.
Opinions please? (And tips on where to buy please??? Has to be online though.)
Thanks to everyone who has minded me so far and answered my holiday q's. :rotfl:

I used Safeskies Locks when I made my trip.. had no problems at all... from my research it looks like SafeSkies owns the patent on the locks..
So I would suggest you buy it from their website, http://www.safeskieslocks.com0 -
Hi
If you are travelling internationally, I suggest you also buy a product that will detect luggage "zip breach". A padlock alone will not stop a criminal from getting into your luggage. Especially important if travelling to SE Asia where Customs officilas will sometimes act first and ask questions later. I've had a nasty experience in this regard, and I know what spending a night in detention is like when you've done nothing wrong! Suggest you protect yourself with this product. It's really cheap, and you can buy on-line at https://www.telltag.com
Cheers, Sturt.;)0 -
Re zip breach, I can't see the point of it.
Lets say the - say Balinese - authorities open your surf board bag.
If the seals are unbroken and they find drugs in it then you are going to be found guilty.
If the seals are broken and they find drugs in it then you are still going to be found guilty because there's no way of proving if you or the Evil Drug Planter damaged the seal.
Personally I'd go low tech and use some cable ties. They are equally (in)effective as some of these other "technologies" and are a damn sight cheaper0 -

I bought my 2 from a Rohan shop and they have the indicator on them (Eagle Creek ones I think). I have luggage with a main compartment and a side compartment and put them on my luggage on the way to South America (via the states)
Both ways, the colours changed on the main pack bit, so they have obviously looked inside / opened the lock - but only on one section
Maybe they have search quotas to fill.
Maybe it's a woman thing, but I wanted to know if someone had been in my stuff or not aswell !!****************************0 -
I would just like to add that at all US airports they tell you to take any padlocks off your case before check in or you risk security breaking in to your case to check it0

In reference to the posting from alanrowell, I'm sorry, but I think you missed the point. If your tamper-evident seal is broken, you would declare this to Customs BEFORE you exit, asking them to check your bag because the seal is damaged. That's the idea. Why have such a seal if you're not going to check it before you exit Customs? Believe me, 90% of thieves use zip breach as the main entry point to luggage. That way, nobody realizes they've been rifled until they get their luggage home. Read the website info at https://www.tell-tag.com its very interesting.0

Thanks for the pointers. It doesn't look like the Safe Skies version has an indicator on it so it looks like it's going to come down to how insistant my wife is going to be as to which make to get.
The tamper seals are interesting, I hadn't seen/heard of these before. Needless to say, my wife wants these too.
Cheers everyone.0
