Sometimes, the amount you owe & the potential amount you owe (High credit limits on CCs etc even if you're not at the limit) will count against you even though you've got a good repayment record.Donedoingdebt Lightbulb moment January 2000. OK. I guess thats possble. My debts are high and whilst I haven't had problems with repayments, it has started to be a struggle and I would have to admit that anymore might cause me problems - so it is feasable that potential creditors would recognise this when comparing with my income.
Obviously it goes without saying that I am working towards clearing these debts.
HOWEVER due to the reasons I gave previously, I do need a new bank account (with debit card and online banking) and a new credit card (to do 0% BT) to help get me back on track.
can anyone recommend any of these who might accept someone with a less that perfect credit score?
Many thanks to all those who have helped me so far. I don't feel like quite such a loser now!!!0 -
It might be worth just reviewing your monthly budget and using ideas from this site you'll be able to save a few pounds here and there to help towards CC bills etc, applying for too many Credit accounts will effect your score more. Perhaps shrewder and tighter money controls will be the best bet for you at the moment?
With the CC it might be worth asking the CC company to remove the PPI attached to it that might save you some pennies/punds per month and in the case of needing a Bank account can you go to a local high street bank and open up an account that way? or try A&L I have a poor rating but managed to open up a joint online account some months back."I AM THE GATEKEEPER OF MY OWN DESTINY" Nacho Libre

Allow me Darling...A&L is the bank we're claiming back charges from! If you know of any other basic ones though that'd be great! Have champagne tastes...but got a beer budget!!:beer:0 -
Have you read Martin's article on the Best bank account to choose there on this site somewhere. Sorry I can't be of much other use in choosing a better bank to go with."I AM THE GATEKEEPER OF MY OWN DESTINY" Nacho Libre

oh I so agree!. Our bad debt is all in DH name, my credit score is quite good but I get turned down because I'm linked to him. Some days I could throttle him but I'd miss him.Loopy_Laura wrote:You fiancee sounds like a loser. Dump her I say!Barclaycard 3800
