Hi - long story short
While travelling on an overnight bus in Argentina I had some valuables stolen from my bag which was in the luggage compartment. The bag was LOCKED but there is evidence that the zip was busted open and then closed up again (see you tube for videos on how its done)
Now just scanning my insurance policy it looks like I won't be covered as it was in a luggage compartment.
What is not covered:
Loss, theft of or damage to valuables left unattended at any time (including in a vehicle, in checked in luggage or while in the custody of a carrier, tour operator or public transport operator) unless deposited in a hotel safe, safety deposit box or left in your locked accommodation.
I have a police report and with help from someone who speaks spanish we will be reporting it to the bus company. The police have told me that they should have insurance too.
Does anyone have any words of wisdom that can help me make a successful claim.

You will probably be better off claiming (as we had to in a similar situation) from your home insurance.0
