Santander business banking cheque deposit envelopes

I have had a business account at Abbey-Nat-now-Santander for several years. Since the outset they have provided reply-paid envelopes for the deposit of cheques via post. When I ordered new stocks last week, the envelopes that arrived are no longer reply-paid - I have to use a stamp.
I see from other threads (such as this: https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/comment/48092143#Comment_48092143) that I might be able to take these envelopes - unstamped - to the Post Office for the "Bootle bag". Does anyone know whether this still applies?
And anyone else out there with a business account with Santander: did they warn you that reply-paid envelopes were being discontinued? They claim they told all customers, but I heard nothing - and nor did my husband, who has another business account with them. I realise that they're not known for their good service, but they've been fine in the past - and now I'm worried that there are other changes a-foot that they will "forget" to tell me.

I have had a business account with Alliance & Leicester/Santander for the past 5 years and my envelopes have always been "Stamp needed".
Provided your account was originally with A&L, you can still bank at the post office. Just hand over the envelope & they give you a receipt. It only adds a day onto the processing time.
Oops, just realised that you were originally with Abbey, probably the same though.Never trust a smiling cat0 -
Or maybe not. According to PO website the service applies to A&L accounts opened before July 2010. It doesn't mention Abbey.CodeNumpty wrote: »Oops, just realised that you were originally with Abbey, probably the same though.0 -
Thanks for your help. I asked in my local Santander branch but they just looked at me blankly - par for the course, I am afraid. I think I will resort to using their penny-pinching stamp-less envelopes and depositing them in-branch - at least it's in town and I go there regularly. Oh for a business bank that cares for its customers....0

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I thought their business banking accounts were free of charge... I'm sure it could potentially cost a lot more than the price of a couple of stamps.0 -
As an alternative you can deposit it directly into your account via the cash machine free of charge at branches if its convenient for you.0

Yes indeed, the account is free of charge but - as with all banks - they are not doing that out of love. They pay very low interest rates. It's swings and roundabouts on these things, as always. My original argument was not that they changed the envelopes, but that they should have let me know that this service was going to change.Correct me if I'm wrong, but I thought their business banking accounts were free of charge...
