Ring insurance

Options
Hi

I need to buy travel insurance for an engagement ring when I go abroad soon, however of the insurance companies I have looked into, they only cover a single item value up to £500.

I am sure there must be policies around which would cover a value greater than this, or is there is a specialist 'ring insurer' (as with musical instruments etc.)?

If anyone can help me on this I'd be very grateful

See if you can add it onto your household contents insurance. (To be covered away from home)

Does your home insurance not cover it?

Some cover upto about £2k for loss/damage outside the home. Im not sure if it would cover outside the uk though.

  • There are two options....

The cheapest tends to be as suggested above and add it to your contents insurance under the Personal Possessions section, many provide world wide coverage but worth checking first.

There is specialist jewellery insurance but frequently it turns out to be an expensive option, with a quote I did for my wifes collection it was more expensive than our total home insurance which covers not only her jewellery world wide but also laptop, phones, camera etc etc
  • But for an extra 12p a day you could have gotten world wide unlimited cover for that ring plus an additional £8,500 of possessions and £60,000 of cover for items in your home.
  • Great - thank you for all the advice, I'll look into my home insurance to make sure it's covered.

Ive heard good things about this company before, and Im pretty sure their insurance covers you for a certain time abroad each year.
