connecting gas stove to existing flue liner
Hello.
This question may be better asked in a DIY forum, but I thought I would give it a try here.
I have an existing 4inch gas chimney flue liner that was used for a gas aga. I have removed the aga and I now want to replace it with a gazco gas stove. The flue pipe of the stove is 5 inches and as I understand it the flue pipe by law should be the same size or bigger than the rigid metal flue pipe attached to it.
My question is what is to stop me getting an adapter to make the 5 inch metal flue fit the 4 inch liner? A gas safe mate of mine said that there is a 99.99% chance that the install would be fine, but that he would not want to take the risk installing it because it is against regs.
Is this truley an unsafe thing to do? the Aga power output was bigger that the new stove and that worked for years with no problems at all! Your advice is greatly appreciated.
Regards, Pete
