2mth old printer- fatal error, where do i take it please?

I bought an epson printer from currys only about 8wks ago-suffered a paper jam this morning and now wont feed paper at all! Lights flashing that indicate a fatal error according to the manual and i should contact epson.
So do i take it back to currys-bearing in mind i have thrown the box :(
Or try and find contact details for epson? Never had a problem with something this new before. Thanks

There will be a little bit of paper still in it. Curry's should have some techy person who'll fix it but if you can really have a close look you'll find it eventually take it out reset it and should be back to normal.

You tak it back to the retailer from whom you bought it, and with whom you have a contract. But Currys will try and fob you off to call Epson. The box is not necessary-just proof of purchase.

:DSuppose it depends on what you have in your local currys superstore. I have the "knowhow" service in my local currys. Whether they are any good...well...they should be able to clear a paper jam....lol...:D

More likely that they'll diagnose it as motherboard failure...

Hi, I used to work for a regional electrical retailer and the reason they require the box is so they can send it back to Epson 'in it's original packaging' however if Currys decide to exchange the printer just let them keep the box and packaging from the new printer.

I realise that the serial numbers won't match but is then obvious to Epson that the unit has been exchanged.

There is really only a problem if that model is no longer available.

There used to be a 28 day exchange policy with manufacturers but the original packaging had to be retained. ( even on a massive tv. )

Box is irrelevant, Sale of Goods Act (1978) Fit for purpose, of mechantable quality etc. Inside the first 6 months it's up to Currys to prove it's your fault. Anway top tip go Saturday morning, about 11am, should be nice and busy, if they get ratty, you want the manager, you start geting very vocal and surprise surprise they back down or call security, by which time you should be shouting it from the roof tops to anyone about to buy anything!

But normally, firm but gentle persistance, I.e I am not going away until you resolve this, otherwise I will issue a summons for the cost of a replacement and expenses, now what was you name again, could you write that down please, and the reasons why you are refusing to deal with this, if you could just sign and date this, oh good the manager, your name, just sign here....
My Mind wanders, if found please return.
  • I agree, the box is irrelevant... You bought the printer not the packaging it came in..........
