Because our daughter is in the forces, her important mail is sent to our house and we forward it as and when neccessary or she collects it

About a fortnight ago, I received a new PIN number addressed to me and put it aside. A week later, an envelope arrived, addressed to my daughter, this was included in the weekly forwarding post.

One envelope contained two credit cards, one for her and one for me!. She rang and told me. I do not have a credit card with the particular bank. So, they had issued a card for me and it had been sent to her, because the envelope was addressed to her. She called the bank who advised her to cut "my" card up. No apology.

Today, I visited our local branch and slowly relayed this story. They rang visa who said "yes, we had a call from the daughter and advised her to destroy her fathers card, they then added that records show, another set of cards are en route, when they arrive, destroy the fathers card". No apology, just the reassurance that it won't happen again.

What do you make of that.

Yes, I agree. I've already had one heart attack and now find I have angina symptoms, so I have to be aware of anything that just might create a further problem. I must admit, that when this came to light late last night, it caused quite a bit of sleeplessness. I had thought about contacting the national press. However, in the cool light of a new day, I was calmer.

what doesnt make sense is that the bank has issued a credit card to you on your daughters account...... why??????

surely they have broken the data protection act, by linking your bank account that you hold with them with your daughters.........

have you tried contacting the customer services or even your local bank manager...... if you prefer to put it into writing then make sure you send it recorded delivery to head office and addressed to the CEO of the bank......

rrrrrggghhh....... i do feel for you...... if it was me the air would be blue.... if it was my wife the air would be bluer.........

The answer to the "Why" is simply, your daughter has requested for you to be added on to her credit card account as an additional cardholder. An additional cardholder does not have to sign the application form as they are not responsible for the debt, so this is why you didn't necessarily know anything about it. If your daughter doesn't remember ordering the card she should contact the bank who will be able to let her know when and where she arranged it.
