Default Notices...

Can anyone assist me with default notices...? I have had one of these placed on my credit file and I wasn't even aware of it.
Surely companies have got to make the customer aware of such a notice being served, especially bearing in mind the detrimental effects it as on ones future credit opportunities.
The company in question is MINT and I have told them that during the period in which they served the notice, I was not living at the registered address as I was in the middle of a divorce and therefore out of the family home.
Any advice would be appreciated.
Regards,
Adelphi.

Their obligation is to send the default notice to the last known address.
If you had moved without giving them a new address then the notice will have gone to the known address. If your mail was not passed on to you then no unfortunately there is nothing you can do.A smile enriches those who receive without making poorer those who giveor "It costs nowt to be nice"0 -
you would only have got a default if you failed to make payments over a period of time
surely you would have known you were not making the payments0 -

That wasn't the case with me, I checked on my credit file earlier this month and noticed there was a default from Virgin Media dated 2008 even though I cancelled all services in 2004 (which they have confirmed).
I have asked them for copies off all demand letters, bills and default notice and 3 weeks later I've had nothing - how long do you think I should wait before I contact them again ? I want the default removed as I'm sure I don't owe the money...it look them 4 years to register the default (I've not moved in that time)LBM 18/06/15 - [STRIKE]£20,276.64[/STRIKE]
