Happy Bithday to my Slow Cooker :)

I'm using the dinner set of Royal Doulton Lambeth Stoneware in Tangier that my mum bought in 1974. There was a factory seconds shop nearby that had tottering piles of any sort of china and stoneware in all designs made, and Mum and I spent about three hours there sorting out each setting of dinner, dessert and side plates, cereal and soup bowls, cup and saucer. Times eight. Also ramekins, three oven dishes, two big oval platters, goblets (this was the 70's, remember!), sugar and cream set and a teapot. They're oven, dishwasher and microwave proof, practically indestructable and as it was a good classic pattern it hasn't dated. I've bought more on ebay and now have twelve settings of the important bits. It wasn't cheap at the time, even as seconds, but it's lasted for 37 years of daily use and still looks like new.Val.0

My slow cooker is also 21 years old and still going strong (as is the husband!) I'll cry the day it stops working.
I have my Mum's old Kenwood Chef mixer (she bought a new one) that's 1 year older than me - 42. Plus an assortment of baking tins that belonged to my Nan - one of them is at least 50 years old.Mortgage Free as of 03/07/2017 :beer:0 -
I still have my mum`s Prestige pressure cooker. (Well, the base of it, anyway, lid may still be somewhere around, weight long gone) Not sure how old it is as my mum had it a good while before we `merged` households so I could look after my parents - that was 38 years ago. It`s not been used as a pressure cooker for many years, but it got used as my jam pan for ages. Now it`s quite pitted, but still gets used occasionally as OH likes cloth hankies and I like to give them a good boiling(esp. after colds) before adding them to WM.0

We still have just about everything we were bought as wedding presents in 1978 apart from a couple of electrical items such as a fridge. We still have our perfectly working slow cooker and towels bought from the Co-op.
The latter have been washed and washed but are still useable for everyday use. We do however have newer towels that come out for guests.Awaiting a new sig0 -
