Hi all,
Wanted to vent some frustration at tempcover.com!
Needed to use them a while back for some temp car insurance.
1. Unable to use their web site as it refused to accept any of my email addresses - they seem to perform a check and if your email address doesn't end in .co.uk they can't deal with it.
2. As they can't take my email address I have to pay an extra £2.50 for them to post me the details. Which after 3 weeks have still never arrived.
3. Then needed to extend the cover by an extra day. Called them up thinking it would be an easy process... but no! While they had at least kept details of the cover they provided me, I had to go through all the details with them again. Why???
4. They insisted on taking out a new policy as they could not extend the first one (cover for 1 week looking to extend by 1 day). The new policy had less favourable terms than the first one (amount of excess).
5. Finally they were unable to process the card payment over the phone as they where being prompted for the "verified by visa" details. Yet they could take the payment the first time I contacted them. This implies that all the person on the phone was doing was re-entering my details directly onto their website again.
At this point I gave up and went elsewhere (found ecarinsurance.co.uk - better system and cheaper too)!
While I can only assume that I actually had cover for the first week (no policy documents) they at least debited me the right amount to my card.
Why do some businesses make it so much hassle to do business with them? I won't brother again.:(
