Pensions - how much does your company pay in?

up to 10% but bear in mind everybody in my company is paid very very low, if they matched like for like, I think I'd be in heaven0

How many kids still live with their parents in their twenties? Lots. And it's likely that many of them are at uni and still not earning.
I am sure when you go to uni you normally move to the Uni so don't stay at home and the ones who aren't will be working and paying house keeping like I said.
Anyway you are missing my point totally.
We were asked who are we going to cope in retirement if we have no private pension.0 -
Cheers for all the responses.
Lots of people without pensions!
I think anyone my age (early 30s) who doesn't have at least a property they own and a small private pension to supplement the state one (which might not exist???) will end up working until they drop dead!
Actually, I envisage OAP work houses where you have to do something to earn your keep!
My and OH plan to be mortgage free by our 50s, and I'm also thinking of getting a buy-to-let property if I can afford it so that I can either sell it upon retirement, or use the rental income to live on. I really don't have much confidence in pensions to be honest, so need some sort of plan B, as I don't want to live in poverty upon retirement.
My gran lived on a state pension, which was just enough to survive on providing you didn't have a car, take holidays etc... and just lived off basics with the odd treat.Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')
Would've = Would HAVE (not 'of')
No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)0 -
I'm in a final salary scheme so I don't know exactly how much the company pay in, but its safe to assume that it is over 14%
I pay 5%, rising to 7% next year and 9% in 2013 assuming I choose to stay in the 1/60th scheme. Or stay at 5% and move to a 1/80th scheme. I have to make my choice later this month.0 -
