Time For Change But Who?

Hello
I received a letter from E.On stating they are wanting to put payment up to £116.00 a month for duel. I'm paying £96.00 a month and i'm in credit.
I will be switching my supplier due to the £116.00. I have compared duel gas and electricity Prices using ukpower and energyhelpline and both go with npower but i do not want to sign up to them has i have had complications in the past.
I have always been on a standard tariff and never a capped/fixed price tariff. Who ever i sign up with. Would i be better staying on a standard tariff again or capped/fixed price tariff.
Thanks

If you are on a standard tariff then that is always the most expensive with any supplier. You are just throwing away money. Pick the next cheapest tariff other than Npower if you don't want to use them.
No one can say which is best for you, a fix or a discounted tariff, it deoends on your approach to risk.No free lunch, and no free laptop0 -

and what monthly payment do *you* think would bring your account into balance by your next "annual review"? Have you asked Eon to justify the calculation as required by Standard Licence Condition 27.14?
Given that you are paying through the nose on a standard tariff (and are free to switch) Eon would be stupid to lose your custom. Why not argue your case about the "increase while in credit". But definately argue from a position of strength having surveyed the market.
A few months ago would have been a good time to go fixed-price, but it is less clear at the moment. Beware "guaranteed discount" (nearly all suppliers) and "deferred discount" tariffs (commonly NPower and Atlantic) if you do not understand how they work. Beware also suppliers (such as Edf) who operate a "short year, spring aligned" calculation on your initial monthly payment as you will surely experience a much bigger shock than the relatively modest Eon increase.0
