how do i fix this Windows msg

how do i fix windows cannot find C:\Documents and Settings\ Sam\Local Settings\Temporary Internet Files\Content IE5 ETC

Opening a document on the internet from my college website and keep getting the message above, so annoying can anyone help and I am not on IE5, think I am on IE8

    The easiest way is to download another browser. Opera or Firefox will do.

    Actually, it isn't. :) Usually, with IE, your files are downloaded to that Temporary folder and then 'transferred' to the intended location. But it seems there is no intended location other than the Temp folder as you are not choosing to 'Save' the file, but to 'Open' it. This means that they are opened from the Temporary location. Next time, right click and choose 'Save...' and choose a location where you can find the file.

    Possibly time to clear out your Temp files. Download, install and open CCleaner. Run Cleaner.

    nope, will eventually open but keep getting msg, going to try a differnent computer later

    What format is the doc exactly?

    Right click the link for the doc & choose "Save target as..." then save it somewhere you can find it easily (My Documents) and then open the file from there.
