Wireless printers are they easy to install?

I want to use a wireless printer with my laptop but wondered if people on here prefer basic printers and find them easier to install.

I did buy a Dell wireless printer but took it back to Argos after SIL, very bright G/son and me failed to get it working properly. We were doing OK until we got to a point where we needed to refer to the manual and found the page was not printed in full. Grateful for any help and opinions!.

I bought an Epson printer that came with a dedicated wireless print server and it was terrible - the nozzles kept getting blocked, but the wireless setup was dead easy.

We returned it for a Canon printer which wasn't supplied with a print server, so I connected it to a very low-spec PC I had spare, plugged in a wireless adapter and again, the wireless setup was dead easy. I've got a mix of Windows XP, Windows 7 and Linux clients and can print from any of them with no problems.

If you have any difficulties in future, I would try to first set up the printer using an Ethernet connection. If that works, temporarily disable encryption on the wireless network and check the connection. Once you've got that working you can re-enable encryption. That way, at least you have some idea as to what is causing the problem...

Usually easy to install, run the setup program with the printer connected to the pc via usb, tell the program to setup a wireless connection and let it do its thing.

Have just setup an Epson SX425W here and all was up and working within a few minutes.

Not even that tough. With Windows 7 (and Vista) you can plug in your printer to the mains (no physical connection needed), tell the printer your wireless passphrase (using the printers documentation), then, sit at your laptop, go to Devices > Add Printer, and choose "Network / Wireless printer" and jobs a goodun

Sorry for the late "THANKS". I have been doing hospital rounds lately and then forgot.

My SIL is worse. He can't remember coming to our house to try and fix
    it for me :D
