Best deal for going to New York in September

I would really appreciate any advice on getting a good deal to New York. I would like to book a trip there in September as a surprise to take my husband for his 30th birthday. I'd been looking to book a 4 night trip anytime between 17th and 29th of September.

We live in Edinburgh and in an ideal world would like to fly from there but if it's a lot cheaper to go from London it would be ok to do that and get down there by some other means. So far haven't seen anything cheaper than about £350 from London with Continental.

Is it better to book flights and accommodation seperately or try and get a hotel and flight together? Any accommodation recommendations would be welcome. Would really like to get flights and accommodation for less than £1K, don't know if that's realistic or not.

Any advice would be really appreciated, many thanks.

Helen

  • we are going to New York end of August for my 40th EEEK! and we got it for about £1500 for 3 of us on expedia. this is during the school hols so may be cheaper in Sept. we paid the extra for a better hotel but could have got it for £1000 for 2 of us. Kids eh!

Can I ask what airline and which hotel you have got for that deal with expedia? It sounds pretty reasonable.

    Thanks very much
