Returned item to seller.

Please can anyone help me.

I brought 2 pens as a present off ebay and they come to £4.94 for both including postage so its not a lot at all.
Now one of them didnt work ink may of went I dont know I tried but it didnt work but it was a present for my parent. Now the seller agreed through paypal if I returned the one pen I would get a partial refund. Now I returned the one pen signed for .. I had an email off paypal saying I have been refunded now today its re opened! I have phoned paypal and they have gone to the police saying they havent recieved it!!

The pen was very light anyway but I definitely sent one pen back for a partial refund I wish I had just not bothered returning it.
What do I do now?! All over £4.94 and I sent the one pen back as I was told to by paypal.

Thanks!

  • Did you put any correspondence in with the item so that the receiver could identify which transaction the return referred to?

I'd be amazed if someone went to the police for a few quid, but weirder things have happened.
Maybe provide the seller with the tracking number?

You returned it "signed for" does tracking show as delivered and signed? If so just upload this info to Paypal.
I cannot see the police being interested in a pen lost in the post, if it hasn't been received any claim you could make would be via Royal Mail

Sorry about the late reply I have just managed come online. I put all delivery information in to paypal and it says this on the royal mail website.

Item .. was posted at 51-53 Bennett Pr ST3 2HR on 21/10/11 and is being progressed through our network for delivery.

So I dont have a signature for proof but I do have my reciept so I will have to contact royal mail I presume?! Thanks

That is th eusual message for recorded, it rarely shows as dleivered in many areas- but as far as ebay/paypal are concerned they ought to have treated that as not receievd back by seller.

Therefore they were wrong to refund you unless it was a non fault refund (ie the seller didn't make it). If you have been refunded then maybe a phone call to paypal might sort this out as it woudl seem unfair for the seller to have to refund when they might not have the pen back.

If you haven't had a refund then just claim the cost /losses from Royal Mail

Every single Recorded mail item I've sent in the past god knows how long has always had the "Your item with reference XXXXXXXXXXXXX was delivered from our XXXXX Delivery Office on XX/XX/XX" bar one.

I get about a 10% success rate, but a zero success rate when work used to insist it was used. However regardless of the success or not in various areas the OP's does not show as delivered and it must therefore be assumed it has not been delivered.
