Can an employer ask this?

You wouldn't carry out a review in public, would you? Referring to times of the month. This is madness.
The review could be done in a quiet corner of an open plan office, or in an office with the door ajar, your underlying implication is that the employer was in some way acting covertly or improperly, when you do not know the facts. The OP has not answered the question about whether there is an issue with performance which is trackable to certain dates.
If, as an employer you received a complaint that an employee was performing below par regularly and that it was to do with her period what would you do? Pass the buck to a woman or deal with it?0 -

How the hell would anyone know what it was due to unless they have asked you.0 -

Which is perhaps what he was trying to do......
I could certainly tell you what my colleagues issue is to do with, and if I were to complain about her I could tell my line manager what that issue is. That could have happened here.0 -

No he was assuming not asking
Psychic, are you? I'd never know if someone was having a health issue that affected their job0 -

I do know the facts. The op in the introduction gave us the facts. If someone came to me with tales I would tell them to stop gossiping. As surely as night follows day capitalism will come crumbling down. On a mission to secure a just and ethical society.0 -
I was once asked when I returned to work from an illness if it was due to 'women's problems' It wasn't, but why should my manager have assumed it was?
I discussed this at a union meeting and it was my male colleagues who were most flabergasted at this - and the ones not office based were also outraged that in the office we could not just go to the loo when we wanted/needed to (there was a system we were supposed to adhere to). In an 'emergency?' we could ask our managers to give consent, but as mine was a man I ignored the ruling and just went, and later the system changed anyway. Not Rachmaninov

You have a packet of jacobs on your manhood.
You really are disgusting. Normally, you attack the unemployed, poor and vulnerable on DT.
Now you suggest that I'm on these boards to pick up women.
For your information I'm in a long term relationship over 11 years. With no 'slip ups'. Behave yourself. As surely as night follows day capitalism will come crumbling down. On a mission to secure a just and ethical society.0
