problems with used car
we have a ford focus c max auto 04 tdci. we first had problems getting the car into park so the key wouldnt come out and we was told the selector switch needed replacing. approx 2 months later we had transmission malfunction come up. we took it too a transmission mechanic who looked at the codes and diagnosed solenoids as well as the selector switch.
we took it back to the dealer who has replaced the selector switch and he says the solenoids come as part of that part. the part number for fords was F1366824 n/stock housing-sele
since getting the car back we have had transmission malfunction come back up and while driving it to my mechanic the engine light came on
he has given me codes p0700 and p1388, he has cleared the codes but we still get transmission malfunction come up but not the engine light
before we had the selector switch replaced when transmission malfunction came up it went into what we was told was limp mode, loads of revs and hard to change into park or reverse
since having it replaced when into transmission malfuntion it seems to drive ok when in this mode but is still hard to change into reverse or park and turning the engine on always rectifies this
any ideas?

Puzzled why you would change gear with the engine off? I have always started an auto in park and
allowed it to idle for a few seconds to get the oil pumping around before moving into any gears.
Start the car, Pop your seatbelt on then move the lever.
700 code is the gearbox fault, Did they clear it? Possibly still faulty. P1388 appears to be a cam timing issue?Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -
we dont change gear with the engine off, if tranmission malfunction comes up while driving its hard to get into any other gear, ie reverse or park0

Sounds like thge P0700 code is new still then. Needs plugging in at NASA mission control.
Find a good reputable gearbox specialist and get them to run the electrical and pressure tests.
Code just relates to a box fault and no specific part so further investigation is needed.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0
