Paying too much

I currently pay £52 a month for decreasing mortgage cover inc critical illness, this seems far to expensive but i'm woried about changing to a different policy because I'm not too clever on life assurance. can anyone oive me some tips or advice on how to start.

be very careful changing an existing policy with critical illness in it as the definitions of what is a CI have got less favourable over the years. It might be that you change plans and then get an illness that would have been covered under the old plan but isnt under the new one...false economy.
