New Boiler Advice - Vaillant or Potterton?

I need a replacement boiler, but I have no idea on what I should be looking for.

The engineer has recommended 2 boilers:

Vaillant Ecotec 618
Potterton Promax 18

From what I have read Vaillant are a better manufacturer. But Does anyone else have any advice on which one to go for?
