    Is the machine totally dead i.e no lights or anything?

    Normal consumer rights apply (see the top post on this forum), but I do wonder whether you'll be able to prove an inherent fault, given that it's a power cut that stops it working. OK, it should work right away after, but maybe having had power problems from your electricity supply has caused the fault

    If the fuse / circuit breakers are ok, it seem very much like a problem caused by a power surge.
    Many of us protect computers with surge protectors, but how many protect washers in a similar way, even though the modern ones are effectively computer controlled and the circuit boards are equally vulnerable.

    Judging by the symptoms you have described, I would unfortunately think you are going to struggle showing the washer has an inherrent fault.
