Sony TV Problem

Hi all,
I have a sony Trinitron KD-28DL11U (old I know) it works very well, but the remote has got a few problems, some of the buttons dont work. My problem is that when we put on the sat box an AV1 icon appears on screen and doesnt disappear. Doing my head in.. have tried a universal remote and although it works the TV it wont turn off the icon. I know there is a way to get rid as it showed up many moons ago(when the remote was working) but I can't seem to remember how to do it... Please help If you can.. thanks

Have you tried taking the remote apart & cleaning the contacts? it's worked for me in the past with dodgy remotes.0

Took the remote apart managed to get appropriate button to work. Phew! Now need a new remote. Thanks0
