Help i need advice on wireless router....

ok guys/gals needing guidance and help!!!

im on ntl and have broadband....

daughter has dell latitude laptop and wants to surf net next door whilst im on this pc.as im on it 24/7.

this is possible isnt it? i dont need another broadband connection?


what do i need? card for laptop?

any good deals on at go?

if her laptop is not a Centrino then chances are it will need a USB Wifi

And if your modem/router is not wireless, you will need either an access point (if you have an ethernet connection on the router) or a Wifi Cable Modem/Router

You would need:

1.) wireless router
2.) wireless network card for laptop
3.) either wireless network card for PC or an ethernet card & network cable to plug into router

will need to get network card for laptop, ntl modem has ethernet(blue) slot in it ... so what now?

i assume all i need is a network card for laptop.. and stick the blue cable from modem to router box...


so does she dial in using my id etc to ntlworld?

If the laptop doesn't have wireless built-in, most new ones do nowadays, then you can either get a pcmcia card, or a usb dongle, and a cable/dsl wireless router. If you look around, the usb dongle and router are often bundled together.

Cable requires a cable/dsl wireless router, BT lines need an adsl model.
