    Hi,

Unless you are connected in an organisation, usually using a server operating system like Windows Server 2003, then it's highly unlikely you should need to change it from "obtain DNS servers automatically" or whatever it says in Windows. Ditto with the IP settings, in a home environment, there should be no reason to change them.

How are you connecting to t'internet? Via USB modem or router?
From your comment above I'm guessing it's via a router so to pick up from where you left off...

you shouldn't need to do anything, dns settings are normally picked up automagically from your ISP (who is?).

If they are there then I'm guessing you are probably using Tiscali, TalkTalk or Orange (nee Wasteofspace, nee nee Freeserve!!) or some such? They like to fiddle with system settings and lock people in (ntl are just as bad as well)!!

if you search for dns servers public, follow the top link and it's child, your good to go.

Cancel my previous comment then, just tick the radio button:

"Obtain DNS server address automatically", should be fine then.
