IP from static to dynamic

I am with AOL broadband and always had a dynamic IP address which is perfect for Matched betting.
I have now linked 2 computers using a netgear DG834 router with ethernet cables.
The Big problem is. It has turned in to a static Ip address.
Is ther any way I can run 2 pc's and have a dynamic IP address.?

Please can any of you techie experts please help.

the answer is no, If rebooting the router leaves you with the same ip address, you are stuck with that ip address.

If you had 20 PC's attached to the router, they all have the same external ip address, which is this:

That’s not categorically so. Changing the MAC address of the device that makes the request to the ISP’s DHCP server stands a good chance of getting you a different IP address. As well as its own hard-wired MAC address, the Netgear DG834 can have its MAC address set to any of the devices that are behind it. Also, the longer the router is switched off for, the more likely it is to receive a different IP address.

  • It's news to me.. the feature you describe is usually found on cable/dsl models, not adsl.

The OP either has dynamic IP, or static, if it's dynamic, then rebooting the router will change the IP address, if it's static, it won't.

    I suspect it is dynamic..

    Finally sussed it.
If you turn the electric off you get a different IP
I inserted the netgear router cd into 2nd pc and I am connected.
It seems that this is connected as soon as you put pc on .is this right .
I do not have to log 2nd pc on ???

You don't have to use the netgear CD with a second PC, just plug it in, it should pick up a local IP address from the router, and you are on the internet.

you can also reconnect the router by going to http://192.168.0.1 connection status, disconnect, connect. which will give you a new dynamic IP address from your ISP

generally speaking you'll have a dynamic IP unless you've paid extra for a static one.

As above, log into the router, disconnect and reconnect - this should change your IP. If it doesn't, try using the MAC address of one of the PCs rather than the router's or leaving it a while, as above.
