Android phone didn't update time

Galaxy S2 on 2.3.5 updated no problem but time is set to update from the network in the initial setup .

In settings > date/time you need to make sure that the Automatic Update is set to on. However, this is a large battery drain on the device (over using the devices internal clock) so I have it disabled and update the time myself automatically:

I'm not sure if all networks provide 'network time', the reason I say that is that on several mobile phones I've used orange and 3 mobile haven't automatically updated to the correct time (not just when the clocks change but anytime of the year)

I'm on 3 and the phone updated fine as per my post.

Galaxy S2 2.3.3 Vodafone. Screen as above Automatic is disabled. Yet it still updated the time itself.

yeah lots of mobile phones update the time by themselves automatically, several old nokias I have do, sonys, samsungs, ect. so even though your on 3 and have network time turned on it doesn't prove that network time works on 3, as forgotmyname proves by having network time turned off but it still updates.
