Best 'last minute' deals.

OK, so one day of cold weather & we're thinking of escaping to somewhere warm so I just wanted opinions on the best sources. We can leave almost immediately over the next 3-4 weeks & I've been trying the usual sites but it doesn't seem to make a lot of difference if I search for holidays leaving today/tomorrow or in a week's time. Has anyone tried just turning up at an airport & looking for 'very!!' last-minute deals or has anyone other suggestions? Main requirements: minimum 7 nights; must be reasonably warm; preferably no more than 5 hours flight; preferably not just 'beach holiday'.

Thanks for that - been through the usual sites, personally find teletext.co.uk to be the best, but I'm looking for personal experience of the really last-minute - standby-style deals - are they available? If we were to turn up at local airport with bags packed & go to the different holiday operators desks, what are the chances of finding something half-decent? Maybe it's a (rather belated) mid-life crisis or whatever, but we just fancy doing something a bit impetuous!

well sometimes you get lucky at the airport but I would feel safer, personaly having a CONFIRMED booking when I arrive with my bags packed hehe but I wish you luck and hope you find something
