Just posting a mates story re: Car insurance canceled

Options
Just thought id post this as it might be of help to some people.

Good mate of mine about 3 months ago had a letter from his insurance company(RSA) completely out of the blue with a cheque for 2 months premiums telling him his policy was canceled due to his risk.

Now hes 27 with a few years no claims behind him and naturally he was gobsmacked.
When he read further in it seems that on 3 occasions he had reported accidents to them but not 1 of these was his fault and not 1 of these were claimed on but these were the reason.
He thought he'd just go elsewhere but ofcourse as we know its hard work getting insurance after a cancelation. He was getting quoted between £1500-2000 compared to the £400 he was paying before.
He had compained to dead ears and just resigned himself to the fact he was well and truly stuffed and was gonna have to do without a car for a bit. It has affected his work situation pretty badly.

Then a month or so a story came up on watchdog with pretty much the same sort of issue. He saw this and decided to go to the ombudsman, ombudsman said they would persue it but it could take a long time.
Yesterday he gets a letter apologising, and a quote for £220 for the year, agreement to remove the cancelation and they are visiting him in person on monday to discus compensation.

Result I say, not sure what sort of compensation but my mate is going in hard, like says sleepless nights, lost hours at work and just general inconvenience. Its got to be worth more than a few quid.

What do we do?, be honest with insurance companies or keep hush?. This would clearly of not happened had he not been honest with them.
