Cat litter

Hi MSE's :)

i need some advice, trying to cut down in spending, we currently use catsan, tried a cheaper one, which was pink, and left little pink paw print stains all over my nice new carpet. :(

i would like a clay based one that is just as good as catsan but not £10 for 20 liters !! please help ! x

is there a reason you want clay?

i have never used a clay based one but a clumping wood one called oko plus
it costs £7 - £8 for a 10ltr bag but because it clumps it is very economical. one bag last 2 indoor cats 6 weeks in 2 trays

I have tried many cat litters over the years (not personally, with my cats, you understand), and in the last couple of months or so have used OKO Plus also. I also think it is fab and would not change to a different one, in the near future at least ;)

Another vote for Oko Plus. We've just switched Maisie to this from wood pellets, and it's brilliant. It's not cheap when you first buy it but it lasts for ages.
  • We've tried everything going but always always end up going back to catsan..tbh I think it's worth the extra expense. When we used others the smell/the mess etc just couldn't make me justify saving the odd £1 here or there.

We use the Tesco Value one (it's about £1.69 for 5 litres I think). Our cat is really funny - she'll only eat the most expensive food, but will only use the value litter! :) We've tried her with other litters, but she just won't go! It's not odour reducing (and boy can you tell at times!), but nothing an open window and air freshner doesn't cure! ;)
