help on ds / wii games please

Hi
Looking for ideas for christmas presents.
firstly my 8yr old dd has recently 'discovered' her sims pet ds game. she was bought it a year or so ago but never got into it, now its her favourite game by far. Are all the sims games pretty much the same? Am i quite safe to just choose another sims and she'll probably like it? or are there any other similar games around?
secondy, my 4yr old *loves* his super mario Bros wii game. Unfortunantly its started coming up with an error message in the middle of a game so I guess its been damaged. i've been googling and i've found a mario all stars game which says it has 3 (or 4) different mario games on it. Would it be just as well buying this rather than just another super mario bros? or is this super mario bros not on the compilation disc.
(sorry for the amount of times i've written super mario bros. how confusing!!!)
are there aany other platform (?) games similar to mario bros for either the wii or dsi?

Super Mario All-Stars is a re-release of a 25 year old SNES game, I doubt a 4 year old would appreciate the retro graphics
