Should you let a national chain Estate Agent sell you their conveyancing service?

We got sucked in by this when we put our house on the market with a pretty dire estate agent from start to finish. We had to ditch them and change to another agent. At that point our house had been on the market around 4/5 months with 30+ viewings and no offers. Switched to an independent agent and the first viewing we had with them resulted in an offer -you do the maths!
Stupidly when we signed up to the first agent we said we would use their recommended conveyancing service (they waived certain fees for photos / premium listing etc). Now we have sold through the other agent, we are still having to use the solicitors they referred us to, and they are getting a lovely fee for that. It is the solicitor we would have chosen anyway, but I would have preferred that the fee went to the agent that actually sold our house, rather than the first agent that we were so disappointed in...0 -
There is of course a legitimate issue involved here - but those who are new to this forum would have to read a lot of threads to understand the background to the comments being made above by some members!RICHARD WEBSTER
As a retired conveyancing solicitor I believe the information given in the post to be useful assuming any properties concerned are in England/Wales but I accept no liability for it.0
