My latest listing could not be uploaded on Ebay because apparently I wasn't PayPal verified. The notification came from Ebay itself rather than from an email (which would be suspicious)
Having had a bit of a browse on the net, it would seem that I have no choice but to set up a direct debit with PayPal if I want to continue selling on Ebay.
Until now, they used to take their fees out of the receipts from customers. For the last couple of transactions, I have noticed that the payments were being received gross of PayPal deductions. Would it be reasonable to assume that the direct debit would aim to take their fees directly out of the bank account in the future instead ? As you can guess I am not comfortable with the idea of the direct debits.
Thank you

What's the problem with direct debit, although if you really hate them then link your credit card to your PayPal0

the problem is no control over what they take from my bank account

I think there is a little misunderstanding here.Quenastoise wrote: »My latest listing could not be uploaded on Ebay because apparently I wasn't PayPal verified. The notification came from Ebay itself rather than from an email (which would be suspicious)

All payments via paypal are receievd net if you have anything other than the basic personal aco!!!! (which is no use as a seller on ebay). Therefore the bank DD is never used to recover fees- you will continue to pay net and the bank DD is a back up source in case of chargebacks. They also need it to pay out money when you withdraw it.
If you have received any payments gross of fees, that were not personal gift payments then there is something seriously wrong somewhere- as this cannot happen go back and check you just haven't overlooked the fees.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards.
