Good find except the insurance want £9500 third party fire and theft.

Beats the KA insurance by £7k....

Somehow i dont think a carisma is worth the extra.

Go back 10 years and you would have laughed and thought them mental is they said insurance for
new drivers would be in excess of £3k a year.

Sorry, I was advising the op.
  • It's worth noting that fully comp insurance can and is mostly cheaper than TPFT.

    Congrats on passing.
Insurance is going to be the killer. Pick any model of car that appeals to you on something like autotrader and then get an insurance quote for it. If it's still a possibility, then look for other examples of that car for sale. Look into what the road tax will be as well.
Don't assume a diesel will be cheaper to run because it will be more economical than a petrol. If you're only doing mostly short runs, a diesel may work out more expensive in maintenance costs.
If going to look at a car, take someone with you who ideally has a little knowledge about vehicles. If not, two heads are going to be better than one anyway, so still go with someone.

  • Go Japanese, something like a Mitsubishi-

2000 MITSUBISHI CARISMA 1.9 TD Equippe 5dr Diesel Hatchback £795

Change out of a grand and very reliable. Job done.

I'm surprised Mitsubishi have been allowed to sell them without getting in trouble with the trade descriptions act. If there's one car that doesn't have any charisma, it's the Charisma; it really is a boring car.
Although I do agree with the 'go Jap'
  • get a low insurance group car research this on the net
a skoda fabia is a good one quite cheap and you can usually get a low milage one for quite cheap
No reliance should be placed on the above.

Except the groups dont always match the quotes. Group 4 insurance can be cheaper than some group 1's.
