sorry if this is harsh, but if your OH won't give up for herself, would she give up for the children? If she smokes in the house, then they are more likely to get lung cancer when they are older EVEN IF they never smoke. Would this be motivation?I want a job that is less than an hour driving away from my house! Are you listening universe?

Instead I down graded from Additions Plus to First Additions which is still a saving of £5 a month.
Am I right?
My oh has heard every single argument against her smoking. I have nagged and moaned, as have the kids, about the health and cost effects of her habit. All to no avail....0 -

What about looking at another account? Check out the latest of Martin's articles, but I signed up to Alliance and Leicester to get the 0% overdraft for 12 months, you also get travel insurance and web access. You complete details of any dd's that might be set up so you can switch account far less painfully than was traditionally the case.
By the way, on the smoking subject, your kids are twice as likely to smoke if one of their parents smokes - if she won't do it for herself, remind her of that one! Thanks to MSE, I am mortgage free!

Ok guys bit of an update
I've got another payrise which is about £80 more pm than when I originally posted my SOA. My o/h is doing daily clicks and we are both doing bonus bagging via cashback sites, all very well but these things take time to pay out. I'm also using the car less cos I'm riding to work now the suns out.
Ok so looking good, well better, at least I've got a bit of extra money coming in. But at the moment I'm really struggling! One thing I failed to mention in my original SOA is that I am also overdrawn with the bank. So much so that I am very nearly up to my limit and I've still got almost 3 weeks till I get paid again. I'm wondering how I'm gonna get through the month....
I'm claiming back my bank charges and this will obviously help me big time but its taking forever I've probably got another 6 weeks or so before they pay out.
I feel like I'm going nowhere. I'm constantly being told that I'm wasted in my work and that I should be doing something more fitting for my ability/ intelligence and God I'd love to but I can't get anything else that'd pay as good as what I'm doing. I'm in a rut.
I've had so many ups and downs of late I don't know whether I'm coming or going. I'm 30 now, 31 this year, and although I appreciate this is still fairly young I thought I'd have it all much more sorted than this by now, I'm starting to lose faith in what life may have to offer and it's certainly not through a lack of going out and grabbing life by the balls!
Anyway that feels better I'll go and be with my family now and pretend everything is fine....0 -
Maybe its time to post a new SOA. Oh and one thing, who pays for you OH habit, if you pay for it, refuse, if she is paying for it herself, find some way that will make her cut back so she uses her money on something else.19th March 2007 LBM£5,969.63 1st January 2018 £5960.18, 1st January 2019 £11,032.0018th August 2023 £12,435.00, Student Loan £22244.00 From 2009-12Challenges: To learn to stop spending..0

Thanks but I see little point in posting a new SOA. I've made all the cuts and savings that I can, I've increased my income, my missus is now bringing in a bit too. In all honesty my SOA isn't any different to what it shows on my first post here as I have kept it fairly updated.
I just need to remain determined and disciplined in my monthly spending. But it's just an ongoing struggle and like I said above at the mo I'm in a rut and from the replies I've received since then looks as though I'm gunna have to tuff it and face it alone. But hey thats the story of my life.....
I know the fags is a problem it always has been. I have nagged and nagged, it ain't gunna change!!! :mad:0 -
Try asking her to wait as long as possible each day before she has her first cigarette. That worked for some friends of mine.
Psychologically it's not as difficult as giving up, and each day you're getting your body more and more used to nicotine withdrawals.0 -
Well I deposited £80 of £2 coins into my back account today, that'll help and I should get the child allowance between now and payday and you never know something might crop up....
I also recently discovered that I was paying 15% interest on my credit card! I've now transferred this to a 4.9% fixed for life card.
Another blow today though Quidco declined £60 worth of transactions (1 x £10 & 1 x £50).0
