I made hm veggie sausage rolls, and made the puff pastry too - its very therapeutic, but I dont do it often, honest. I have a rectangle of about six inches by eight left. Cheese straws are out, no marmite or mustard in the house. I have mushrooms, garlic, pappers, gorgeous mature gruyere, and a very old gouda in the fridge as well as all sorts of other things, but I just cant think what.to make with it. Any suggestions? Oh, we are veggi btw.

How about making a puff pastry based pizza? I have made pizza using the pastry and just add the topping as you please. I usually turn up the edges to make a wee lip so the tomato puree etc doesnt go over the sides. - lovely hot or cold.

If you have any cream how about mille feulle (sp) ie puff pastry with cream and jam and iced on the top?

know what you mean jackie - how about a nice filling with the veggies you have made into a nice spicy paste and make pinwheels (our butchers sells these with a thin layer of sausage meat) Just roll out the pastry spread the spicy filling and roll up like a swiss roll? SLice them before cooking and put on a greased tin

  • Yep, I'd suggest something like above too.
  • I saw this in Waitrose today and it looked divine - sort of a grown up pizza meets savoury tart. It does have pancetta, but I think a veggie version with mushrooms and peppers instead would be delicious!

  • Ooh I think iwill do half and half, I will do a sort of mushroom garlic paste thing for the pinwheels, and a wee tart witha gruyere cheese sauce with red peepers grilled with smoked paprika. My mouth is watering, thank you guys!!!
