Home Made veggi sausage rolls

Options
Hi, has any one of you guy's made their own veggi sausage rolls?
My dd is a veggi and loves sausage rolls, with out the meat of course. I have bought some before and they were lovely, however i have tried to find some, but with no luck this time. I thought that i would try to make some myself, then thought how would i do that,:confused: has anyone made any themselves or have any good recipes? Thank you.

I've never made them, but you could try grated cheese and onion, or pureed tomatoes/onion/herbs.

I'd keep the mix fairly dry (simmer down the tomatoes etc if necessary), and do them as small individual rolls.
  • Hi there, I've tried lots of recipes but the most similar to meat ones I've found are as follows:
I roll out frozen (defrosted) puff pastry and add sosmix from Holland and Barrett (I'm sure other health food shops and supermarkets also sell it), made up with water as per instructions into sausages. Cook until risen and golden. Makes loads, costs much less than ready made veggie sausage rolls, and they taste like the Linda Mc Cartney ones. Wish I hadn't read this now, my mouth's watering...

Hi, we have a Holland & Barrett near to us, what is sosmix? i have never heard of that. Just wanted to know what it was. I agree that Linda Mc Cartney's veggi rolls are really lovely, even the non veggies like those.

They also sell it in my local tesco. Its dry & you add water to make it like sausage meat but veggie. I used to eat it and add chopped tin tomatoes as it made it taste even nicer.

Forgot to add, I prefer to cook from scratch so I would make a veggie sausage roll by frying up onions garlic herbs etc, simmer in tin tomatoes, then add some cooked chick peas or red kidney beans, and grated carrot etc, thicken up using bread crumbs if need be. This also makes a nice burger - just grill it.

  • I also use the sox mix but I add a packet of stuffing mix to it as well so that it is nice and savory - these are loved by veggies and meat eaters alike.
