Old XP Laptop ~ Log, can it be speeded up ?

Hi there

"Closed" helped me earlier this week with my laptop and I have been working through his sticky on my old Acer laptop that I use only to remote access our work server.

Hoping I can get some advice on what I can do to speed it up please

A clean installation often makes a massive difference, and if you use nLite to strip out the parts of the OS that you don't use you can get even better performance.

have you scanned for infections with malwarebytes - this is often the sign or remnants of an infection

disable these from startup using msconfig, startup tab

could probably get away without AGRSMMSG.exe and keyhook running at startup too, re-enable if it causes any problems

alternatively, the machines appears to have erecovery installed, so you could restore to factory settings if you wanted, but it will delete all your data
