I am worried about other vulnerable women reading this and believing they have to stay in abusive relationships just because their name is on the mortgage and they mistakenly think that this fact excludes them from being eligible for housing benefit. It doesn't. Neither does the house have to be for sale.
Advice has been given based on the facts presented by the OP. You cannot expect people to cover every possibility just because someone with different circumstances may read the thread. It is also pretty low to try to make other contributors look bad by playing the abuse card, which does not even appear to be relevant here.
OP, a property lived in by your ex can be disregarded in limited circumstances - is there a particular reason why it has been disregarded?0 -
Hmmm interesting. :undecided
You think she left her husband and her home because he wasn't abusive?
Could be true I suppose.Overactively underachieving for almost half a century0 -

Your personal experience is stopping you being objective. There are many reasons for relationships to finish that have absolutely nothing to do with DV.0 -

Oddly enough people split up for all sorts of reasons. I am sorry that you experienced an abusive relationship, but it is not fair to tar everyone with the same brush.0 -
