Hi,
you can lock your door, but you can't escape.
Mary had a little lamb,
she also had a bear,
I've often seen her little lamb,
but I've never seen her bare.
Can a have ma nuts?0 -

I don't mind them before 730pm, don't get many anyway. When I was a kid we only knocked on those with pumpkins etc outside x0 -
When I go out with the kids my policys are
-to only call on houses with decorations up
-start early
-finish late
That way we don't upset anybody who doesn't want to be disturbed, we get lots of sweets which I can tax at my leisure when little ones go to bed and most importantly we are out all night so I don't have to give anything away.0 -

Trick or Treating is an American concept, but there's a similar thing which happens in Scotland on Halloween which has been around a lot longer.
It's called guising and kids dress up and go house to house, but they have to do something to get their treat, like sing a song or tell a joke.0 -

No - it's origins are pagan. Can be traced back to Scotland and Ireland!"Isn't it enough to see that a garden is beautiful without having to believe that there are fairies at the bottom of it too?" (Douglas Adams)0 -
well i remember when i was young making a guy and push in around in a pushchair calling penny for the guy and then on bonfire night going to a display that would end with a guy being burnt on a bonfire.
but now you never see kids with guys or bonfires at displays.0 -
