Can I reclaim unfair charges for business leasing finance?

Can anyone give me some advice. In 1999 I bought some business equipment from a leasing company. This in total came to £3,500.Subsequently, I asked the company Bathgate Leasing,if I could buy the equipment, they said yes and asked £1,000 (less wear & tear) .I assumed that this would be the end of the matter, but this was not the case, and I still had to pay the repayments. I had some problems with the payments, and this company then put a charge on my business premises. I re mortgaged the property in 2004, and Bathgate Leasing demanded and got £10,000 Is there anything I can do about this, or is it too long ago?
