I would go tot he debt free wannabe board who can advise you more helpfully regarding your debts, income and expenditure and your budget.
If you don't pay the clams company they will attempt to issue a CCJ however, given that your other debts have already resulted in defaults, that you are currently on benefits, the chances of them agetting an order to pay a large amount is virtually nil.
Also, if you informed them you had debt with this company, then they should have informed you that they would still want paying even if you had a successful complaint because the money would go straight to the debt.
You can make a complaint in wiriting [ make it as short as you can judging by that ^, just say they didn't inform you of that fact, give them eight weeks to respond, then take their response to the FOS afterwards. They may back off, they may not.
Pay attention to any letters that come through if they do decide to take you to court and make sure you don't ignore them.
Definitiely go to the debt free wannabe board and post your SOA, they can help with budgeting, and potentially your other debts.
Make it shorter this time, you don't need to tell them your life story.

Yes sorry about previously writing all that lot. It was the emotion that got hold of me. ..

Hi again Iv been checking my paper work and this is what found

Anyhow Iv just looked back at the letter from the  Nat West bank and it’s says.
“We herby give notice of the debt due to us by you in respect of the balance on your National Westminster bank plc account. On the 21st of July 2019 your account was assigned to $$$$ Finance (UK) ltd who are now the legal owners of the debt”

Also on the paperwork from the company that has the debt now it says
“We part of $$$$ CMG Which has recently bought a number of your National Westminster bank plc accounts”
it goes onto say Original lender
    the purchase balance
    and the outstanding balance.

Ive told you what you can do, no one else is going to suggest anything else....Lots of us read this board but we won't comment if it's all already been said...unless it's money of course :)
Make your complaint, that they didn't tell you that you would still have to pay. Then wait for their response. Then forward your complaint to the FOS. If hey don't back off, then you tell them you can't pay anyway but you'll add them to your DMP thanks very much....
And got to the debt free wannabe board.
P.S. I wouldn't worry about posting that much stuff, we read it, but there's not much to comment on and you haven't made a faux pas, just shared a bit more than people usualy do :)

I asked my wife to ask her ex husband to check for PPi as he had all the account details .She forwarded the information on here to claim everything back for free.
Four weeks ago money appeared in her bank referencing PPI.
She also received an email from her ex stating he had some paperwork for her.She requested it as she had no idea what it was.
We have now found out he didn't do as asked and used a reclaims company. All her refunds stated with a demand for 24% fees.
Everything is in her old married name and his address.
Does she have to pay these fees as she never once gave permission and her married name and address changed over six years ago!!
We asked her ex if he had forged her signature but have heard nothing.
    Any help gladly received.

No.  She did not employ the claims company and no contract exists between them and her.   Her ex decided to pay someone to use the free-of-charge complaints process and he is responsible for the bill for that choice.

Why didn't your wife make her own PPI complaint?

Because he had all the account numbers and they were mostly in joint accounts.
