Any recommended dentists in Cardiff, please?
I left one last year after the Denplan kept creeping up and after three painful attempts at the same filling.
The one I went to is ok, but the filling still isn't right and on my last inspection she just looked in my mouth, said 'that looks fine', then charged me. I also think £30 for their hygienist is a lot.
Does anyone really rate their dentist and think they give good value?
I'd prefer town centre, Roath or Cathedral Road, please.
Thanks.

Mine is great. He's very friendly and open and really does the best for me cost wise. He's in Llanedyrn though so a bit of the way out for you. He's NHS but I've no idea if they're taking new patients on.
I think he does private work too.DMP mutual support number 174Total debt now (April 10) £0! - total paid off £30,221 or 100%I'm now debt free after 6 years!!:jNon smoker since June 2006 :j0 -
Thanks, Milliejon.
It'd be hard for me to get out to Llanedeyrn, but that's useful to know.
Apologies for repeat thread, btw!0 -
I go to Mark Hill on Churchill Way. He's brilliant. Mind you I've known him since he was about five, so I might be a bit biased.
In fact I now go to his NHS bloke, who is really young. I was slightly concerned when I saw his certificate on the wall, indicating that he qualified about six months ago. I had to have a filling. I must say that he was absolutely superb and my concerns were unfounded.0 -
I left the one at the top of Cathays Terrace near the junction with Crwys Rd. Because it was too far for me and because their turn over of staff was unbelievable, every appointment I (and my OH) had a different dentist, and they were all just out of Dental School.
One such ex-student put a glass filling in one of my molars, not only that the hole that was to be filled wasn't just from the top of the molar it was also on the side....no way was that filling going to hold up. Sure enough I was charged for the glass filling which fell out (or rather disintegratred) within a week, new appointment made another new dentist (thank god someone with some common sense) and I was given a proper filling which I was duly charged for! I never went back.0 -

If it's the dentist in Ael-y-Bryn then he is very good. He is still NHS but there is a long waiting list for new patients. Terrified DH is on waiting list. There are a few dentists in the practise. (practise, practice I never know which is right)
My dentist is excellent, Pat Thompson in Whitchurch Road (the flyover end), she has recently gone private although she doesn't overcharge, but she is brilliant. Marvellous with children too. I don't know if she is taking on new patients though.0 -
I go to the Clifton Dental Centre, Newport Road, (just down from Clifton St)
Dentist is NHS and Hygynist has just gone private, never had any problems with them.0 -
I'm in a similar situation, having just moved to Cardiff area. I'm looking more for the outskirts - Radyr, Tongwynlais, Taffs Well - even towards Llantrisant.
Hope you don't mind me putting my request here. I've made a note of the dentists recommended so far, as I don't mind travelling for a good one - have children and don't want them to end up as frightened as their mum!0 -

You might try this one
H. Mitha, 62 Tudor Way, Llantwit Fardre, 01443 207656
But they are the ones who didn't send me an appointment reminder then struck me off their list after 18 months with no warning letters and then said it would cost me about 60 quid in paperwork fees to put me back on! I never went back. But my OH still goes to them.
You can drive there through the lanes through Pentyrch or Creigiau. Easy parking0 -

Try Hywel Samuel in St Mary Street Cardiff. They're NHS and I've been going there for years.0 -

Great dentist in Tongwynlais, not sure of his name but a freind goes there, he's NHS.
Taffs Well has a dentist on the main road, up towards Glan y Llyn, just opposite the Taffs Well Inn.£2 Coin Savers Club (Christmas)- £86£1 Jar (Christmas)- £29Christmas Vouchers Saved: £1450
