If my ex paid what he owes me in maintenance, I would be 32k better off. I and my new husband have already maintained my daughter whilst her father refuses to. His income is deemed high enough that he should pay a high maintenance assessment. If I get all the money in one go, then I shall keep some but some will to direct to my daughter for university accommodation and fees. I am due what I have already paid out.

Zara33 - why are the CSA asking for your bank statements? Surely they know that they haven't paid you?

    Hello there

You deserve a medal for answering every csa complaint that comes here.

Oh yes, they are asking for bank statements. Then they suggest the PWC is confused!!!!

I believe the maladmininstration is growing worse.

The OP and the other lady should ask for an account breakdown from them. The only way to go is to go via the MP, then there is a record of all correspondence.

I have PM'd the ladies with some info that hopefully might help.

I see we have a gent mentioning the cig, drink, going out rubbish. CSA payments should be treated the same way as rent/ mortgage payments. Unfortunately, the CSA are not as organised as the banks and landlords.

???? does every penny the guy pays go straight to ex? i thought money they paid went to government to pay for the benifits that the ex partner claims??

the worlds gone mad that means my mate basically pays for the ciggarettes, drink and night out for his ex missus and only gets supervised visits once a fortnight even tho he has never done a thing wrong (no abuse or violence or anything towards ex or his child) as a soon to be father myself its makes my blood boil

fathers for justice have my support id be doing it if i was in their shoes:T

I would get your facts right before coming out with generalisations. I used to support F4J at the beginning, but not now.

if your not on is or other benifits you dont need 250 a month

Did i say i get £250.00 a month  no it was an example, so what you are basically saying is that a PWC who is not on benefits do not have the right to get Child support from their ex partner  how do you work that out then?

It doesn't matter you can never win in some people's eyes when it comes to the CSA, either the PWC is a lazy benefit scrounger or they shouldn't need any money if they work

jamstaruk i'm sure father's for justice would love for someone like yourself to be apart of their organisation, so dust off your batman suit and get ready to scale some buildings. You have made a rather sweeping statement which just proves you have no idea how the CSA work!

Let us know how you get on Zara33! I am intruiged to why they think that it is up to you to provide evidence of their failure to pay you! What planet are they on?
  • HI,

I have just been on to the CSA at Crewe, where my case is held, because its clerical, due to an error they cannot correct on their system. I claimed in March last year after returning from abroad (work). It took them from March to June and the MP getting involved before they even started the case, i have only recieved one payment since then which was in Oct. I have now found out that there was a payment sent in Dec to the CSA from my ex but i also have to wait for god only knows because of the backlog. They are trying to set up a detatchment of earnings on my ex, but they have messed this up and now they have lost my file. I phoned this morning and suggested that maybe there was also a payment fron Nov sitting in an account due to wrong info on the paymentand maybe they wouldnt need to set up the detatchment if he has paid already. They are now looking into it. It is so frustrating as i am on the phone to them probably 4 times a week. I work and so does my new husband and the money is spent on the children, for treats and clothes and pocket money and for schooling, such as trip aswell as an isa for my oldest sons university fees. He is 15 now but it wont be long before he will need it.

Hi - I do it because I want people to have access to the system as it should be - not what it is. As a CSA staff member I have some inside knowledge of how it all works and feel that I can help get justice. Most cases it is for the PWC but sometimes the NRP may benefit from my knowledge and get a lower assessment. It depends on what the issue is, but I believe in justice.

As for Fathers For Justice - I believe that their aim is a good one if it is to see their children as there are vindictive mothers out there who refuse to let their child have contact because of spite. In those cases I support them HOWEVER, I wouldn't go so far as to say that it is ok to withhold maintenance as that will HARM the child overall. Not only because of the lack of money so they have to go without, but also because it will only do more harm to the relationship with the father in the long term. For those vindictive mothers it is added ammunition for them. Yes, children grow up and can form their own opinions, but most opnions are based on experience and if you are told that your father refused to pay you maintenance to punish you then the child will believe it and will hate their father even more than they did already if they have been fed lies about them. At least show them you care by paying for their upkeep.

I can't get over the fact that those who do not pay do not have the big picture in mind. They are stuck in the cycle of hatred towards the other person - they don't believe they should pay because they weren't at fault at the breakdown of the relationship, they don't believe they should pay because they have a new family now and can't afford it, they don't believe they should pay because the PWC has met somebody else and has more money than them etc, etc, etc. All these are EXCUSES NOT REASONS not to pay. Bottom line as i have said time and time again, the children have TWO parents who should pay. If one gets lucky and becomes better off financially after the breakup, so be it, it isn't the fault of the child and that child should not be punished. It stands to reason that paying for a child will make you worse off than you would be otherwise. If they can't afford it because they have a new partner, then their existing child HAS to be factored into any decisions they make. Their exisiting child should come first every time, not pushed aside because it is inconvenient now that they have moved on. You can never move on from being a parent, it is for life, pure and simple.

I do have a degree of sympathy for those who find out after many years that they have a child they never knew about, but it doesn't change the fact that they are a parent and should pay. It may well come as a shock, but the child is the innocent party in all of this and should never lose out because of the actions of their parents.

    Rant over.

Our ministers have employed a private company ( might be plural, but I can only speak from my current dealings ) to deal with CSA debt collection.

The people I deal within the CSA themselves I get on quite well with. They have informed me of these facts:

    1. They don't even know the name of this private company. They are only referred to as the Debt Collection Agency.

2.They can only really email this company. Speaking from experience I know CSA staff are sending loads of emails and not getting a response. They are ignored and , of course, the CSA can see when they have been read.

    3. The CSA do not know the names of the supervisors in this company and, again, cannot contact them direct.

    4. Since my case was transferred over to Bolton I have had to deal with 4 people ( the third one being reasonably competent, but I'm being nice ). However,my case has now just been transferred over to the 4th person. These people know nothing, nor do they care, about the history of my case.

    5. I have been offered an 0845 number for the company, but I know it will be a waste of time. The company staff work shifts eg 1pm to 9pm.

My turn to have a rant.

The 3rd person tried to dictate to me that case officers are really called case workers. DEOs can be put in place for self employed people. Warning letters take 14 days and they can only phone up NRPs 3 times...excuse they have other cases to deal with. I'm still awaiting the letter I asked for to show me where this information lies in the legislation.

    Complete cobblers.

    Time to contact MP again.

    Oh...this will tickle you.

You know Lord MacKenzie has taken over from Lord Hunt. My MP has received the response from his dept: We cannot deal with individual cases regarding the CSA.

    A new one on me.
