It is the driver who is responsible so the PPC should now write to you, but they please themselves.

Your appeal will be unsuccessful and you will be asked to pay. However its best to do as we all do and simply ignore them!

    PS: which company is it?

thank you for replying. the company is athena.

as my husband hasn't contacted them - and it was him who they contacted, can they take my email seriously?

im just concerned as now **** 'admitted' it and 'appealed' - that they will see this as an easy court win :(
  • bump...if i do get taken to court...what are the likely fees?

im soooo waivering about paying :(

In the very unlikely event of your husband being taken to court (not you) he says he didnt do it
he was elsewhere at the time and was not driving the vehicle.

    Not guilty no charge. Goodbye.

I think you have missed out the question - "What are your chances of ever getting to court?". In simple terms not at all great. To my knowledge (I'll stand corrected) Athena have never done court and, like many other private parking companies (PPC's), they are very quick to threaten it but rarely, if ever, follow through.

The PPC business model is based on straightforward numbers. If 60% of all the tickets you issue are paid without question there comes a point where you give up threatening the remainder of the 40% who are less inclined and simply moved on to the next victim. Taking cases through the courts costs far more than can be recovered and takes up pre3cious time that can be better employed in issuing and chasing new tickets. Most PPC's have never done court at all ever and those that do take matters to court do so only rarely and only so that they can maintain the pretence that their threats are real.

They have only one interest and that is to empty your pockets. The number of cases actually taken through the courts compared with the number of matters that aren't clearly demonstrate that the private parking world's much vaunted claim to uphold the rights of landowners is nothing but a lie.

Hold firm. If you can cope with bold print - perhaps in red - then you will be fine.
My very sincere apologies for those hoping to request off-board assistance but I am now so inundated with requests that in order to do justice to those "already in the system" I am no longer accepting PM's and am unlikely to do so for the foreseeable future (August 2016). :(

For those seeking more detailed advice and guidance regarding small claims cases arising from private parking issues I recommend that you visit the Private Parking forum on PePiPoo.com

For gawd's sake calm down, you are nearly falling for a con! It's not a fine and Athena don't even do Court.

This is nothing to worry about at all, why on earth do people pay these fake PCNs?

Just click on the '>parking tickets, fines parking>' part of the blue chain>link above (top of forum page) to see the whole current board on the subject of this scam.

Then just read the stickies at least = the info threads at the top of the forum board thread list you will then see. Read 'PPC letters, what to expect' and 'welcome, please read before posting'. Watch the Watchdog clip and do not worry at all that you have emailed the company - the advice to ignore this sort of 'flyer' on your car still stands.

    This is not a fine!

Next time please don't be so quick to almost fall for a scam. A fake 'PCN' is unenforceable - just 'cos it's dressed up to look like a real PCN does not make it so.
PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

It is a scam of impersonation of authority.

  • ok: they have to 1. prove who it was, 2. prove i was in a marked bay 3. prove my parking in a FREE space cost them £45....then they have to explain why they are ignoring the sex discrimination act of 1975 :)

thanks loads...i'm confident in this now :) X
  • is there anyway i can remove this thread to stop 'trolls' from the company seeing it...just incase?
